Technical Precision in the Context of Design: UAB BRASA and Materials That Shape the Character of a Space

Design is not only about aesthetics, but also about functionality. Creating a space means creating a structure that withstands everyday use, remains durable over time, and meets functional, emotional, and visual needs. Between these two seemingly opposite poles – aesthetic sensitivity and technical precision – operates UAB BRASA, becoming a bridge between concept and physical realisation.

For more than twenty-five years, the company has collaborated with architects, designers, furniture manufacturers, and creators, offering a wide range of furniture and architectural hardware – from the “skeleton” of furniture (screws, connectors, hinges) to complex space division and lighting systems. From furniture décor – handles and stone fronts – to interior accents such as decorative panels. All of this, together with technical consultations, allows designers to realise what they envision.

BRASA also actively participates in the design community – supporting young creators, sponsoring initiatives, participating in events and exhibitions, and promoting design culture not only through products, but also through knowledge.

SIBU DESIGN: A Surface That Tells a Story

One example of how the materials offered by BRASA enrich design is SIBU DESIGN decorative panels. The Austrian company, which has spent many years developing various finishing solutions, is now returning to its greatest strength – surfaces that cannot be replicated using conventional materials (such as wood panels or wallpaper).

Ultra-thin, easy-to-process panels stand out with expressive décors: metallic reflections, leather textures, marble imitations, and 3D structures. One of the most iconic SIBU DESIGN décors – OCEAN, conveying the impression of ocean movement – has already been used in numerous projects both in Lithuania and abroad. SIBU panels can be applied to both furniture fronts and large wall surfaces. It is no coincidence that SIBU surfaces are chosen where not only the first impression matters, but also its longevity – in showrooms, public spaces, and exhibitions.

Every month – a new example on the SIBU blog:

„Design must tell a story. The surface becomes the narrative layer in that story.“
(SIBU DESIGN, Picture of the Month)

New Collections – A New Perspective

The new SIBU collections presented at the 2025 Interzum exhibition highlighted different design directions: circular structures, textile effects, structured leather imitations, mirrored finishes, and brushed metal décors. Each of them is visually and tactually engaging, encouraging designers to experiment and create more boldly.

The Relationship Between Light and Material

The texture, gloss, and depth of finishing materials reveal their true meaning only in relation to light. Here, light is not an addition – it is an organic part of the surface. Even the furniture itself can become a light source, while furniture and architectural luminaires become design accents integrated into one unified control system.
BRASA approaches lighting and materials as parts of a single composition. Textured finishes combined with carefully selected lighting scenarios (light direction, angle, intensity, colour temperature) give a space a sense of completeness. When light and surface work together, the space becomes both functional and aesthetically refined.
